8 Tips to make working out a habit.

Stay active. Look & Feel good today.

SET YOURSELF GOALS

Whether you are starting your fitness journey or you’re already on your fitness journey it can be difficult to find the will power to stay motivated & create habits. Setting goals can help you to stay focussed on the end result. “Today I am going to go 10 more pushups than I did yesterday.”

GYM/ CIRCUIT TRAINING/ SPORTS… FIND SOMETHING YOU LIKE!

Working out doesn’t need to be a chore, it doesn’t need to be 5 hours a day on the treadmill (unless you want to, you do you!) Find something you enjoy to do. For example, I love hiking… therefore I regularly go on long walks. This doesn’t “feel” like a chore or even like I’m ‘working out’ because I just love to go on long walks/ hikes!

INVEST IN THE PERFECT OUTFIT

When you feel good in your outfit it can help with your motivation. Treat yourself to a new set of activewear and think about the goals you want to achieve! When you don’t feel like working out, change into your new set of activewear… it makes all the difference! You will want go smash your goals now!

TRACK YOUR STEPS

Have you been tracking your steps or activity? It can be awesome to keep track as it helps you to track and meet your goals and it becomes awfully addictive!

BE PROUD OF YOURSELF

Any type of workout is an accomplishment. Be positive and be proud of yourself, change your mindset from “Oh I only went to the gym for 20 minutes though…” to “I smashed my workout in 20 minutes!”

GET A WORKOUT BUDDY

Having a buddy helps to keep you on track and accountable. This can be the best way to find an activity you enjoy for your workout as having a friend with you makes it 10 times more enjoyable!

STRUCTURE YOUR WEEK

Set times and days that you can add a workout into your schedule. Set an alarm on your phone. If you can’t make a time, ensure you schedule an alternative time for that week.

LIFE HAS SETBACKS

Life is bound to have some set backs, whether you gain an injury or work commitments have you missing your workouts, don’t beat yourself up. Focus and find another way to enjoy your workouts and focus on the positive.
